What qualities does a support worker need?
Have you ever wondered what qualities you need to be a support worker? Aside from the two obvious qualities kindness and compassion, you will need to:

Be patient, empathetic and respectful of others' property. Be calm and respectful, caring, supportive and non-judgemental.

Be respectful of people’s life choices whilst encouraging good choices with humour and intuition.

Have a sense of humour. Humour goes a long way.

Be a good listener.

Have the ability to connect with someone as an individual rather than viewing them as part of the collective. Every one of our clients is very different in lifestyle choices and hobbies.

Be patient and not patronising, ensuring your client feels well-supported.
A fantastic support worker will have a positive attitude, seeing solutions to problems. You will get to know your client and know how to uplift them. Be open and warm in order to build a rapport with your client. Get to know everything about them.

Support Worker
Male or female Support Worker required to work Monday and Tuesday nights with a lovely lady who has a supportive team and loving family within her own home in Wadebridge.
Our client has motor neurone disease. She is very independent and enjoys going out with her team to visit garden centres, aquariums, TK Maxx and Marks & Spencer.
She loves to watch sporting events and have fun with her family.
She loves to go on holiday to a specially adapted house within the UK.
​
You will be there to support her mobile ventilator, peg feeding and communication via letter board.
​
You will need resilience and patience. She will take time to get to know you and she will only laugh if you do something wrong the first time. Be confident and patient. Do not patronise or dictate. Someone willing to be part of a wonderful team.
